• "The Center of Attention" Alyx Winters Alyx Winters defeated Keith Knox on January 12 in Kingsport, TN to earn his spot in the Contenders Ring.
• "The Reaper" Matt Conard Matt Conard defeated Ricky Morton on January 12 in Kingsport, TN to earn his spot in the Contenders Ring.
• "The Specialist" Jeff Connelly Jeff Connelly defeated Alex Avgerinos on January 12 in Kingsport, TN to earn his spot in The Contenders Ring.
• "Super Natural" Zac Vincent Zac Vincent defeated Joseph Blackwell on January 12 to earn his spot in the Contenders Ring.

• Rules of the Contenders Ring

  
  - Only the wrestlers in The Contenders Ring are allowed to receive a shot at the NWA Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Title or the NWA Mountain Empire Title.
  
  - The members of The Contenders Ring are decided upon by the NWA SM Board of Directors.
  - Wrestlers are only allowed into the ring following by either winning a Contenders Ring Match or being placed in the ring by the NWA SM Board of Directors.
  - If a member of The Contenders Ring is defeated by someone who is outside of the ring, they will lose their spot in The Ring to that person.
  - The members of The Contenders Ring are not ranked... Title shots are scheduled when the member of the ring sends in a request. The requests are reviewed by the NWA SM Board of Directors and either accepted or denied at that time.
  - Once a person has been defeated by either the Smoky Mountain or Mountain Empire Champion, the NWA SM Board of
  Directors will decide whether or not they should stay in The Contenders Ring.
